Singing For Slave Lake" a benefit concert and dinner! Westlock May 31st 5:00PM @ Westlock Cultural Arts Theatre. 4 performers and delicious spaghetti dinner. All proceeds from ticket sales going to the Salve Lake Relief fund through Scotia Bank. Tickets on sale at Westlock Home Hardware, The Flower Shop, R.F. Staples and in Athabasca at Value Drug Mart. Wednesday June 1st
Hi everyone! Im starting to coordinate a show with proceeds to go to the Red Cross to support those devastated by the fire! Kayla Luky, an old friend and new country break out artist from manitoba is on board and is excited to support the cause! Tentative date is the evening of wednesday June 1st in Westlock. It will be a great night to bring the communities in the surrounding areas together, lift moral, and have a great time! If there are any other musicians interested in helping the cause the more the merrier! As well I am currently doing medical stand-by for the fires in the area so if anyone would be interested in helping out I would love to hear from you! O'Shae's in Camrose is having Karaoke and all proceeds are going to the Slave Lake and area residents. Please come out for a great night!

All money raised will be donated to families whose lives have been affected by the fires that have burned through the Lesser Slave Lake Region, and do not have insurance. A donation box will be set up at the front entrance for those who would like to contribute.

  2. Angie Good on you for setting this up. It is amazing what the work of the many can do, but often it is the energy of one like yourself that makes it happen. Thanks.

    I am and independent agent with Visalus and I have set up a new position in essence a business of it's own called Friends of Slave Lake and all of the proceeds from this company's sales commissions overrides etc will go directly to help with the rebuilding of Slave Lake.   5. "Singing for Slave Lake"

    Hello again! My name is Jolene Hildebrand-Johnson and I have posted previously. I just wanted to update everyone that our event "Singing for Slave Lake" is going to be taking place Tuesday May 31 from 5-10pm. Show will be held in Westlock, AB in the arts theatre located in Staples Secondary school and proceeds will be going to the Slave Lake relief fund to help rebuild their community. The theatre has been graciously donated by an anonomous donor. There will be a buffet style dinner being served and country music entertainment by up and coming artists from various locations. The list of performers will be confirmed shortly. Tickets will be sold in advance at 2 locations in Athabasca, 2 locations in Westlock, as well as at the door.     We are organizing the following events in order to raise funds for Victims of the fire:

    DONATION JAR - A general Donation jar is in the front office.

    BAKE SALE - A School - Wide Bake Sale is Planned for Wednesday May 25 and Thursday May 26

    BOTTLE DRIVE - We will be organizing a Bottle Drive on Saturday May 28 - 9-1 pm. More details in regards to drop off points to follow.

    Hilltop Student Council has promised to MATCH funds raised by the school in these three fundraisers.

  8. May 28 and 29 from noon - 5 pm we will be having a charity BBQ and silent auction at the Ranchland Mall in Pincher Creek. I have a great main prize of concert tickets in Calgary and will send more info on other items real soon.
    Also, the trust fund is aet up at the Alberta Treasury Branch so you can drop by any location and donate to the Slave Lake Relief Fund.
    The Brick has also stepped up and is taking donations at any location across Canada. The account numder is "SLVDONA" they will know what that means. I just heard today that Serta Canada is donating a minimum $ 50,000 this weekend also.
    I will update as I get more information.

  9. I have a 3/4 bed with wrought iron frame, box spring mattress and all the bedding to give away if someone could pick it up for me. I would like to donate it to Slave Lake victums but cannot handle this myself. If someone out there has room and will pick it up I would love to give it away.

  15. Woodhaven School in Spruce Grove is having a Bake sale with funds going to Slave Lake. Our 10 year old grandson, Eddie Miller, when hearing the news of the fire, wanted to do something to help, after approaching his teachers the idea of the bake sale came about. Eddie has ties to Slave Lake as his Mom and uncles were born there,and many relatives have lived there and some relatives 2 who have lost their homes and also three friends have lost thier homes, still call Slave Lake home. Many students and parents are contributing to this bake sale, SO PLEASE WOODHAVEN STUDENTS,of Spruce Grove, on FRIDAY, MAY 27th buy yourself a treat and support THE PEOPLE OF SLAVE LAKE.
